Over 50% of all child related deaths were linked to neglect. Children in a single parent home tend to be supervised less, simply because there are not two parents present. A single parent has to work more often and is not home as often.
Substance abuse in a single parent home is becoming more common. Studies suggest people abuse drugs in single parent families to cope with raising a child alone. Substance abuse often leads to not being able to care for one self or their dependents.
In a survey of 6000 families. Single parents were ten times more likely to physically abuse their children. Possibly due to financial stress or being over whelmed with raising children alone. With no other parents or adults around it is harder for them to be held accountable.
Child Custody Cases in Review
In late 2017 Assurance Investigations & Process Service was contacted to conduct a child custody investigation. We were told the mother of two children was drinking and driving with her children in the vehicle almost daily. With our continued efforts we were able to prove to a judge the mother had indeed been drinking large amounts of alcohol on a regular basis around the children alone. The mother would also drive while intoxicated with the children on multiple occasions. The mother lost custody of her children and was only allowed to see the children through supervised visits.
